You’ve made it to the best community in the world. With that, you’ve made it to the REALEST HYPEFAM.
Make sure to take a look around and make yourself familiar with what is available. There’s plenty on offer – so make yourself at home!
We’ve got a couple of rules and notices that we ask everybody to read before they start their journey as the newest members of the HYPEFAM DISCORD SERVER!
Take a glance at what is below, and be sure to let one of the mods if you have any questions, or (constructive) comments on the rules.
Have fun! #realhypefam
We’re all about making everybody feel as included as we possibly can here, and whilst we’re a family-friendly server, the nature of the DJ/Music industry means you must accept that you may encounter some bad language here and there.
Swearing, in moderation, is okay, but please don’t go Gordon Ramsay on us!
Sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia (or any other form of segregation or discrimination) will not be tolerated, whatsoever.
We’ve got a first-class team of robots who will keep an eye on messages you attempt to send. Automatic moderation efforts may prevent you from sending a message which contains an offensive term, and just like any other technology we use here, you should not try to circumvent this!
This doesn’t mean that any message not suppressed by AutoMod is acceptable however. Moderators reserve the right to remove any unwelcoming/disruptive content – be it specifically against the rules or otherwise.
In line with our obligations to Discord, and to the younger members of the REAL HYPEFAM, we operate a strictly no NSFW (not safe for work) policy in all channels and platforms.
NSFW content is classed as anything of a sexual or inappropriate nature, or any content deemed unsuitable for children. In simple terms, keep it PG/E rated. We’ll use internal guidelines to deem what is appropriate and what is not, but note that moderators can also remove content which is not suitable for the server based on their own discretion.
Political content may be disallowed at the discretion of a moderator, keeping the context of the conversation in mind.
Debate is healthy, and natural, but those who step over the line will be asked by a member of the mod team to tone it down.
Any content which is deemed as illegal (in any applicable jurisdiction) will also be removed by the mods.
The moderation policy for NSFW content is simple. Please find it below:
Uses who have content removed because it is NSFW or is deemed an innuendo based on our internal guidance, will be subject to:
- First offence: a warning, and a 72 hour timeout
- Subsequent offence(s): a warning, and a 1 week timeout or a temporary ban
- If two offences are within 1 month of each other, this will be escalated to a permanent ban with immediate effect.
Outside of the content allowed in our self promotion and feedback channels, unauthorised advertising (whether it be promoting yourself, or somebody else) is not permitted here.
Discord AutoMod will prevent you from sending links to certain websites which are often used to advertise. As mentioned in previous rules, you should not try to circumvent this.
Please don’t assume that anything AutoMod doesn’t prevent you from sending is acceptable, as the moderators will take down any content they deem to overstep this rule – at their own discretion.
We can, and will, take further action with Discord Trust & Safety where we deem it necessary.
Not that we should have to remind you of this – but personal information is just that – personal. Please don’t share it with anybody in the server. Whilst we, as the mod team, try to weed out any bad actors we find from the server, there could always be somebody.
Whilst this should apply to everything you do online, do not post your address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information in the server.
If we find that you post something that could identify you, we’ll remove it and let you know. Everybody accidently leaks stuff sometimes, it happens.
Mods will deal with any users found to be sharing or leaking personal information of another user. If you see somebody leaking the personal information of another person, please report it to us as soon as you can.
The hand-picked team of REAL HYPEFAM who help on the server as moderators are here to help you, and to keep you safe. Please leave us to do our jobs, in trust that we’re working in the best interest of yourself and other server members.
That said, moderators have the final say. They should be respected in the same way James and other members of the STEREOHYPE team are.
Please don’t engage in backseat moderation* – doing so often makes our jobs harder, and you’ll probably find yourself in trouble too.
Any user suspected of impersonating a moderator will likely be banned from the server without warning. Do not deal with any situation yourself, flag it to us – it’s what we’re here to do, after all.
To ensure you get the quickest response from the first available moderator, tag @Moderator rather than individual members of the mod team.
James (and the other members of the crew) have lives too – away from the cameras, social media, and yes, even the decks…
Please give them the respect they deserve by not blowing up their phones with notifications.
AutoMod will attempt to prevent anybody from Pinging James when he is not active, and you shouldn’t try to circumvent this.
Anybody seen pinging James will usually be issued with a verbal warning if he’s active – and when he isn’t, a formal warning will be issued.
Replying to messages generally sends a ping, unless disabled. Please be sure to disable this when replying to a message from James or any of the STEREOHYPE crew.
As a footnote to this one, please don’t spam-ping moderators. If you need the assistance of a moderator, please ping the @Moderator role.
The REAL HYPEFAM are very diverse in age, and that is a good thing – however, in line with Discord’s Terms of Service, we aren’t allowed to knowingly permit anybody under the age of 13* into the server.
Any account suspected of being underage will be immediately reported (without warning) to Discord Trust & Safety.
Whilst we cannot legally require proof of age, if you find yourself banned for being a suspected underage user, sending a form of ID alongside a selfie to an admin will get you unbanned, no questions asked.
Sales and Monetary Transactions (of any kind) cannot take place in the server.
You are not allowed to make a profit, ask for/receive any funds, from/for content or members within the server.
Transactions may take place outside the server between members (we cannot prevent this) although these cannot be in relation to any content or discussion originating from within the server.
Furthermore, we regrettably cannot offer any buyer/seller protection to anybody, and advise you to use a reputable website/service provider for exchanging goods (such as tickets) for money.
Alternate accounts (aka ‘alt accounts’) are not allowed here, and any suspected alt accounts will be removed from the server without notice.
Moderators (as identified by a green name tag) and Trial Moderators (as identified with an alternative green name tag – with a orange Staff badge alongside their name) will use additional privileges assigned to them to enforce the rules set out above. They can remove content, record information about your actions (in the form of ‘warnings’) and suppress (or terminate) your ability to interact with the server, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
They make take one or more of the above actions for content which has been identified as unsuitable for the community, but doesn’t directly violate one of the rules set out above. We promise to moderate proportionately, using context, where possible.
Moderation issues, or issues with individual moderators, should be reported to an Admin, as identified by a pink-red name tag.
As in all Discord Servers, we must enforce against, or report any violations of the Discord Terms of Service and/or Community Guidelines.
We may report any misconduct to Discord Trust & Safety, if required, even if the above doesn’t explicitly state we will.
Below are links to some helpful resources:
Moderators perform their roles on the following guidelines:
Provided you’ve exhibited generally good prior behaviour, we’ll give you a verbal warning for your first rule-break, unless it’s serious. After which, for every subsequent violation, we’ll issue a formally recorded warning.
If you acquire three warnings for similar violations, we’ll consider further action such as a Server Timeout, temporary or permanent ban.
The only exception to this is Pinging James, in which case we reserve the right to give you an immediate formal warning, and depending on context, up to a 24 hour timeout, irrespective of your moderation history.
Moderators may divert from this policy for serious violations at their own discretion, or if your actions put users at any risk of any kind.
Please read the below self-promotional guidelines. You’re welcome to promote the following in this channel:
